OSHA's "$afety Pays" Program

OSHA's "$AFETY PAYS" program is interactive software developed by OSHA to assist employers in assessing the impact of occupational injuries and illnesses (with Lost Work Days) on their profitability. It uses a company's profit margin, the AVERAGE costs of an injury or illness, and an indirect cost multiplier to project the amount of sales a company would need to generate in order to cover those costs.

Hazard Awareness Advisor 1.0

A powerful, interactive, expert software to identify hazards in General Industry workplaces. It will ask you about your workplace, and ask follow-up questions based on your answers. It will write you a customized report about possible hazards and related OSHA rules.



 

Asbestos Advisor 2.0

This software is for building owners, managers and lessees, as well as for contractors of building renovation, maintenance, and housekeeping services. Once installed on your PC, the Advisor interviews you about a building. It then asks follow-up questions based on your answers, and writes a report on your responsibilities under the Asbestos rules.

Confined Spaces Advisor 1.1

This program provides interactive expert help for the Permit Required Confined Spaces Standard (29 CFR 1910.146). This software will assist users to identify confined spaces, to determine whether they are permit required confined spaces, and to learn and take the appropriate action. You can also use this Advisor online



 

Fire Safety Advisor 1.0

This program provides interactive expert help. It addresses OSHA's general industry standards for fire safety and emergency evacuation (Subpart E, 29CFR 1910.36, 37, and 38), and for firefighting, fire suppression, and fire detection systems and equipment (Subpart L, 29CFR1910.156 through 165). Once installed on your PC, it asks you about a building and business policies and practices. It asks follow-up questions based on your answers to prepare the guidance and write the customized plans you need.

GOCAD 2.0, the Cadmium Biological Monitoring Advisor

GOCAD 2.0 assists you in applying the biological monitoring provisions of the Cadmium Standard. It analyzes the lab results, and prepares: a letter to the employee, a memorandum for the employer, notes for the physician's, and other useful records.  The original GOCAD (1.0), released in 1994, is obsolete.



Lead in Construction Advisor 1.0

This Expert Advisor is multi-purpose, interactive, expert software. It will help you understand and apply the OSHA standard on Lead in General Industry (29 CFR 1910.1025). Once installed on your PC, it will interview you about work place operations and procedures to determine its guidance on how the standard might apply to various situations and facts. It has a special track for health care professionals. OSHA welcomes your comments on this prototype.

LOTO Plus Expert Advisor - PUBLIC TEST VERSION

This Expert Advisor is interactive, expert, diagnostic software. It will help you understand and apply OSHA standards that protect workers from the release of Hazardous Energy. The LOTO Plus Advisor will interview you about work on or around equipment that can release mechanical and electrical energy and injure workers. It considers issues under 29 CFR 1910.147 Control of Hazardous Energy (Lockout/Tagout), 1910.212 Machine Guarding, 1910.268 Telecommunications, 1910.269 Electric Power Generation, 1910.331-.335 Electrical Safety Work Related Practices, and other regulations with specific requirements related to these issues.



Respiratory Protection Program Advisor - PUBLIC TEST VERSION

This Expert Advisor provides interactive expert help on OSHA's Respiratory Protection Standard (29CFR1910.134). Once installed on your PC, it will interview you about work place policies and activities to determine its guidance on how the standard might apply to various situations and facts. It assembles its customized report based on your answers.

SafeCare Advisor

This interactive, expert software identifies possible occupational safety and health hazards in long-term health-care facilities. It prepares customized reports based on your choices and information about the facility. OSHA welcomes comments on this prototype.



Safety and Health Programs Advisor - PUBLIC TEST VERSION

This prototype Expert Advisor is a Program Evaluation Assistant. It will help you review and evaluate key aspects of your Safety and Health Program, if you have one. If you do not have one, it could help you think about elements of a good program. It is straightforward and very easy to use. OSHA invites you to try out this software, and welcomes your comments and suggestions on it.
